Beverly Hills has thousands of palms, from Mexican fan palms to the grand Canary Island date palms lining its streets. Palms don't heal the way other trees do, so catching problems early matters.
What we look at:
- Shrinking crowns and collapsing or discolored fronds
- Nutrient deficiencies (common in palms), such as yellow-orange flecking on older fronds
- Watering and drainage around the root zone
- Over-pruning ("pineappling") and pruning history
- Clean-tool pruning, since some palm diseases spread on unclean saws
